The Petroleum Tanker drivers have threatened a strike action
in seven days if government and major oil marketers fail to pay up the debts
owed them for transporting petroleum products across Nigeria.
The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO)
and Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) issued the warning after an emergency
meeting of the association in Abuja on Tuesday, July 19.
“If by seven days from today all the authorities concerned
do not come back to us and do what they are expected to do, we will withdraw
our services meaning we will park our trucks in our garages and the trucks will
not move anywhere.” a statement by the NARTO President, Kassim Bataiya read.
