Cerebral Spinal Meningitis is hitting hard on Kebbi state. According
to reports, 42 people in five local government areas of state have been
reported dead as a result of and 58 are still receiving treatment at designated
camps.
The Director Disease Control of the state’s Ministry of
Health, Aliyu Usman Bunza has revealed that the LGA’s include Jega with 46
cases and 3 deaths , Argungu with 6 cases no death, Gwandu, 36 cases no death,
Aliero, 49 cases and 34 deaths, while Zuru recorded 5 deaths and 17 cases.
The Director of Immunisation and Disease Control, Hussaini
Sahabi attributed the rapid outbreak of the disease to sleeping in overcrowded
and unventilated rooms.
