The Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale  was  honoured in far away United States of America, by the “We Care for Humanity” organization, a respected Non- Governmental organization, which is endorsed by the  United States Congress, and under the auspices of the United Nations, at its 2nd  annual  “ Global Officials of Dignity Awards,” for his outstanding civic and charitable stewardship which have significantly improved the quality of life in the Local Government.
 
The Local Government boss was presented with the African Grassroots Leadership Award by the organization at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States of America.

The president of the organization, Princess Maria Amor while delivering her address noted that, the organization works to improve international relations between and among nations through the promotion of education, health, wellness, and culture, amongst other things.

Comrade Adewale while receiving the award thanked the organization for the recognition awarded him."This is a recognition of selfless service and hard work. I did not go into politics for want of anything except to give hope and elevate the standard of living of the people," he stated. 

He also used the platform to call for the release of the Chibok Girls while thanking the international community for their support in the rescue effort.


He further call on the international community to keep watch on Nigeria's coming elections most especially the Ekiti State Election as the President Goodlock Jonathan administration has been using the military, police and other state security department to silent the opposition party and violate their rights to free movement and transparent electoral process.
