It all began like a carnival when people were trooping in to
Rockview Hotel Festac on March 16, 2014, activities were agog and you can’t help
but wonder what was going on. Alas! A closer look showed that all these were
being done to celebrate the children with down-syndrome, waoooooow. Someone
remembered to go through all these pains, struggle, and sleepless nights to put
up such for these special children, to give them a pride of place and add joy
and laughter into their lives! I couldn’t wait to see who was behind it all.
I was taken to a delectable woman called Buzopat, full name
Chibuzo Patrick, a woman of substance, an epitome of humility endowed with
heart of gold. She was full of smiles when I asked what gave her the courage to
touch the lives of the children with down-syndrome. Her answer blew my mind. "Somebody
had to do it and I am here to be used by God besides I am the PR consultant to
the foundation and awareness creation for them can never be enough. I and Emeka
Smith came together on this."
Comedians of class and panache were strolling in one after
the other, rolling out jokes and kept the audience begging for more, from Emeka
Smith, Mc Shakara, Yaw Yaw Yaw, Klink Da
Drunk , Kachi, Tuale, Benji D Joke, Papa B
and so many others. Musicians were not left out from Ray G to d Don
Jazzy newly signed Korede Bello etc,
To crown it all was the ambassdorial award and other
categories of award given to those comedians who has followed Buzopat and Emeka
Smith from comedy infusion inception till this third edition by d down-syndrome
children and the founder n national president Mrs Rose Mordi who was so full of
smiles and appreciation.
