American rapper, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after being found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution.
The 55-year-old music businessman received the sentence on Friday from Judge, Arun Subramanian at the New York courthouse.
Before sentencing, the judge acknowledged Diddy’s accomplishments but said, “However, the court has to consider all of your history here.”
Subramanian also condemned Diddy’s treatment of Cassie Ventura and Jane Doe, women who accused him of coercing them into sexual acts with male escorts for his gratification. “You abused them,” Subramanian told Combs. “Physically, emotionally and psychologically…”
“I know you feel you are in a dark place right now, but the crimes committed were serious. You and your family, you are going to get through this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel,” the judge added.
He further commended Ventura and Jane Doe as “strong women” who showed courage in speaking out. “We heard you. I am proud of you for coming to the court to tell what really happened,” he said.
Diddy was found guilty of flying individuals across the US for sexual encounters he referred to as “freak-offs,” involving both his girlfriends and male sex workers.
The rapper was arrested in September 2024 after more than 120 people, including a minor, accused him of kidnapping, blackmail, abuse, and prostitution-related crimes.
Earlier this week, federal prosecutors sought 11-year sentence, describing Combs as “unrepentant” and leaving his victims terrified. His defense team countered with a plea for 14 months — equivalent to the time he has already spent in custody since his 2024 arrest.
For the past 14 months, Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, New York.
