OFTEN a time, a butterfly may think itself a bird. But, it needs to be jolted back to reality that, although, it may have some semblance of wings, which make it fly to some level up in the sky, it is actually not a BIRD!

That appears to be the present situation in the royal families of the Fidipote of Ijebu, Ogun State and Odo-Nla, Ikorodu-Lagos, state.

Apparently irked by years of a character parading himself as a member of the royal family, and getting undue recognitions and or privileges, it became pertinent that the Fidipote Ruling Family came out to warn unsuspecting members of the public against dealing with him in the capacity of a ‘prince'.

In a joint statement signed by Omooba Aderibigbe Tunde, secretary of the Fidipote ruling family and HRH. Alaiyeluwa Oba T.I.K.I Omotayo (ONIMOPE OF IMOPE KINGDOM), OLORI EBI FIDIPOTE, it was explicitly made clear that one Mr. Niyi Kamoru Ogunsanya has been parading himself as a member and prince of the Fidipote ruling family.

The statement, Issued on August 4, 2025 read as follows:

“This is to formally issue a public disclaimer and warning to all members of the Fidipote Royal Family, both at home and in the diaspora, and to the general public—particularly those in Odo-Nla Kingdom, Ikorodu, Lagos State—regarding the fraudulent and misleading claims made by one Mr. Niyi Kamoru Ogunsanya and his associates.”

The statement continued: “Mr. Niyi Kamoru Ogunsanya has been spreading false historical narratives, falsely presenting himself as a descendant and representative of the royal lineage of Oba Odeyemi Adeesho Ademuyewo a.k.a. Ofiran, the pioneer monarch of Odo-Nla Kingdom, who was a direct son of Awujale Ademuyewo Fidipote of Idewon Quarters, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.”

To puncture his claims, the Fidipote ruling family further read said: “We categorically state as follows: Mr. Niyi Kamoru Ogunsanya is NOT a descendant by blood or marriage of Oba Odeyemi Adeesho Ademuyewo (Ofiran) of Odo-Nla Kingdom, nor is he in any way affiliated with the Fidipote Royal Dynasty of Ijebu-Ode.

“His recent false declarations, which include claiming lineage through the female side of Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi and manipulating his way into the Olugbode family platform, are deliberate fabrications aimed at distorting royal history, creating confusion, and undermining legitimate succession.”

Consequently, the Fidipote ruling family “strongly condemns his attempts to disrupt the unity, sanctity, and cultural order of the Odo-Nla Kingdom and the greater Fidipote royal heritage by exploiting the recent unfortunate passing of Otunba David Afolabi Ekiyoyo and the ongoing family transitions’” the statement said adding that “The appointment of Prince Adeseye Mobolade Adedipe from "Raselu Branch" as the new Olotu Omo’ba Meta (Head of the Royal Family) of Odo-Nla Kingdom was unanimously agreed upon by all three ruling houses of the Odo-Nla Kingdom. His legitimacy is recognized by the collective authority of the royal family, and any dissent or contradiction by Mr. Ogunsanya is null, baseless, and invalid. The WhatsApp messages and public utterances made by Mr. Ogunsanya are deeply divisive, provocative, and inflammatory, containing misleading statements such as: Falsely claiming to be “Prince of Ogbodo” and asserting a right to kingship. Claiming royal family headship in various towns and families without consensus or verification.”

The actions and or inaction of Mr Niyi was deemed as “Denigrating the contributions and presence of other royal members, especially that of the late Otunba Ekiyoyo and amounted to “attempting to rewrite the genealogical lineage of the Odo-Nla Kingdom with blatant inaccuracies. We urge all traditional rulers, government institutions, community leaders, and the general public to disregard any statements or representations made by Mr. Niyi Kamoru Ogunsanya on matters of royal lineage, chieftaincy, or family headship, as he holds no recognized position or authority within any branch of the Ofiran Royal Family of Odo-Nla or the Fidipote Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode.”

The Fidipote ruling family is left with no other option than to issue what it described as the ‘Final warning’ to Mr. Niyi: “Henceforth, any individual or group who aligns with or amplifies these falsehoods shall be deemed complicit in an attempt to destabilize royal heritage and defraud traditional institutions. Legal action and traditional sanctions may be taken against such individuals to preserve the integrity of the Fidipote Ruling House and the Odo-Nla Kingdom. This disclaimer stands as the final position of the Fidipote Ruling House of Idewon Quarters, Ijebu-Ode, and is fully backed by the recognized family heads, ruling houses, and royal authorities concerned.”
