The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a new increase in fees for the Nigerian Standard Passport, effective from September 1. The update was communicated through a statement by SPRO Mr. Akinsola Akinlabi on Thursday, delivered from Abuja.
Akinlabi explained that the adjustment aims to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport. Under the revised fees, applications made within Nigeria will now cost N100,000 for a 32-page booklet with five-year validity.
He added, “Applications made in Nigeria for a 64-page booklet with 10 years validity will cost N200,000.”
However, Akinlabi noted that passport application fees for Nigerians abroad remain unchanged: “Applications made by Nigerians in the diaspora remain $150 for a 32-page booklet with five-year validity and $230 for a 64-page booklet with 10-year validity.”
He also reiterated the Service’s commitment to maintaining accessibility of passport services while delivering quality.
