Enugu State Government  has banned the collection of levies and tolls on highways and roads in the state,introducing a unified e-ticket scheme.

A release by the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, said that govt views with displeasure the activities of those who deploy all manner of crude tactics to extort.

The e-ticket scheme makes it easy and convenient for payment of taxes such as road taxes, tickets from tricycles, tippers, emblems, and passenger manifest, while eliminating harassment and loss of revenues

The ticket scheme takes effect from Aug 11, 2023.

The govt noted that it has banned all forms of paper tickets, and citizens are enjoined to purchase their daily tickets through approved e-ticket agents.

Individuals and groups of individuals collecting taxes, and revenues purportedly on behalf of the government are to quit all highways and roads immediately, as anyone caught in the illegal act by the enforcement taskforce shall face severe consequences including prosecution.
