A former Governor of Oyo state, Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala has passed away. 

He today died early Wednesday morning at the age of 71.

Akala was Deputy Governor before he became Governor of the state of Oyo and he was born on June 3, 1950.

He succeeded Rasheed Ladoja in January 2006 as Governor.
