The NCDC on Sunday reported zero new COVID-19 cases for the first time.

Since the country recorded its index case of coronavirus on February 27, 2020, a total of  167,206 infections have now been confirmed across 36 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

For the 16th consecutive day, no new death from COVID-19 complications was recorded in the country.

The COVID-19 fatality toll is 2,117 at present.

The NCDC data indicates that seven patients were discharged on Sunday after recovering from the infectious disease.

With the new figure, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries in Nigeria stands at 163,557.

Sunday’s update does not include data from Lagos state, the agency noted.
