A female rapper has died after having a botched cosmetic surgery performed by a gynaecologist.

Fernanda Rodrigues, 43, also known as Mc Atrevida, underwent the butt augmentation surgery at a clandestine aesthetic clinic in Rio de Janeiro. 
 
She died days after undergoing a liposculpture procedure which removed excess fat from her back to inject into her glutes.

Complications set in two days after the procedure and she complained of severe pains in her back and painful inflammations in her body.

The mother-of-one was admitted to Evandro Freire Hospital, in Ilha do Governador on July 26 and taken to intensive care but died the following day from sepsis and kidney failure.

Doctors said they might have been able to save her life if she had sought medical attention earlier. 

They revealed that undisclosed substances appeared to have been mixed in with the fat extracted from her back before it was injected into her bottom. 

Given time they believe they may have been able to drain the substance which was being rejected by her body.

Wania Tavares, owner of the 'Queen of Plastics' (Rainha das Plásticas) clinic denied through her lawyers that this had happened.

Police are investigating why the cosmetic clinic, which did not have a health license, was still operating despite being banned months before.

It was advertising its services to over 4,600 followers.
