Prince Harry has kicked-off his first official engagement
since announcing his plans to step back from the royal family.
The Duke of Sussex arrived at Buckingham Palace on Thursday
morning to host the Rugby League World Cup 2021 draws.
He met with representatives from all 21 nations taking part
in the tournament before watching children from a local school play rugby
league in the Palace gardens.
The men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournament groups are to
be revealed by the Prince at noon.
Harry chatted to the youngsters during a pause in their
exhibition match and then the group posed for a photograph in front of a large
group of photographers, cameramen and journalists.
One of the reporters shouted out a question to the duke who
has had a turbulent week trying to resolve questions about his future role in
the monarchy.
The reporter asked: "How are the discussions going on
your future?"
Harry, who was making his way into the palace, only smiled
at one of his entourage and did not reply.
Harry's appearance today is his first since he and Meghan
announced their intentions to step back from their senior roles in the royal
family.
The Sussexes said they wanted to become financially
independent and intended to split their time between Britain and Canada.
