Manchester United is reportedly exploring the option of hiring Julian Nagelsmann as manager should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be handed the boot.

Solskjaer is under immense pressure at Old Trafford after guiding United to one of their worst start to a Premier League campaign in years.

The Red Devils have picked just two wins in eight matches of the new season, leaving them 12th on the standings with just nine points

The club's disastrous performances and a dip in form has seen a section of fans demand for the sacking of the Norwegian, just months into the job.

It is now believed United chiefs could pull the trigger on Solskjaer should Liverpool get the better of the Manchester outfit when the two sides meet after the international break.

According to a Mail Online report, Man United have already earmarked Nagelsmann as a potential replacement for Solskjaer.

The report further asserts United have already begun doing their groundwork on the RB Leipzig's manager who has impressed in the Bundesliga.

At just 32 Nagelsmann is already on his second job in Germany’s top flight, having become the youngest manager in Bundesliga history when he landed the Hoffenheim job at 28.

Solskjaer has come under immense pressure at United following the club's poor run of results in the new season.
