A spokesman for the embattled leader Shia Muslim group, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has disclosed that its leader has arrived back in Nigeria, having cut short his prison leave to India without receiving the planned medical treatment.

Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) says El-Zakzaky has suffered two minor strokes and is losing his sight.

It was disclosed that El-Zakzaky was whisked away to an unspecified location, soon after his Ethiopian Airlines plane touched down in Abuja to avoid media and public attention.

On his arrival, he had been expected to return to the custody of Nigeria's secret police, the DSS.

He is facing charges of culpable homicide and other offences, all of which he denies.
