On Monday, a 46-year-old man, identified as Tyonongu and his
younger brother were killed in an ambush on Monday morning near Chakumi village
in Abaji Area Council of the FCT. The ugly incident happened at about 8
o’clock in the morning when the two of them were riding a motorcycle from
Dogon-Ruwa to Abaji.
The elder Tyonongu, a wealthy Tiv farmer at the
community, was attacked with his younger brother by yet to be identified
persons with machetes.
According to him, the killers laid ambush for the two and
first shot at them with guns and when they fell off the motorcycle, they finished
them off with machete cuts, Daily Trust reports.
He said the remains of the two deceased were later deposited
in the mortuary at Suleja hospital.
It will be recalled that the deceased, Tyonongu, had a
misunderstanding with his Tiv kinsmen early January this year in which 12 of
his vehicles and thousands of yam tubers were burnt at Dogon-Ruwa community of
the council.
