The oldest adherent of the Igbe African Traditional Religion, Madam Agnes Akpometeghore Akpofure has died at the age of 98.


Akpofure, who was born in February 1918 hailed from Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.  A grandchild of Ubiesha, she was born into the religious Odje-Ijaro family and was among the three children to be personally named by the Uku Supreme, Ubiesha, her grandfather, who founded Igbe traditional religion who named her Akpometeghore.

Mama Agnes Akpometeghore Akpofure is survived by two children, Prof. Clement Onisuru Akpofure and Chief Efe Akpofure (SAN), FCIArb, grand children, great grand children, great great grand children, brothers and sisters.
