Oby Ezekwesili has sympathized with the mourning family of
late famous author, Elechi Amadi, who died at 82 after brief illness.
"So shocked at the sudden death of my former colleague in
Government - Chief Ojo Maduekwe. Lord, please comfort Ucha & entire family.
Ojo was a brilliant mind! He loved to engage in intellectual debates. That made
him 1 of my colleagues that I always engaged in Debates.#SAD.
Ojo's dad was a Presbyterian clergy. I remember how often he
would say, "my sister Oby, pray for me o. This Nigeria Politics is
TOUGH". #SAD. I do have fond memories of Ojo Maduekwe-- a man similarly
unsparing of poorly spoken English. We would both wink as soon as we heard
such.
We also today mourn #ElechiAmadi- a great man of Letters who
actually studied Physics& Mathematics. His books make African Culture
poignant.
Recommended #ElechiAmadi’s books for my young friends to
read in honor of the literary icon? #TheConcubine #SunSetInBiafra
(non-fiction). I last saw #ElechiAmadi in Port Harcourt last month at Prof.
Nduka Otonti 90th birthday. That unforgettable smile on his face as we greeted.
God, comfort the family of #ElechiAmadi (82). No matter how old people are, the death of a loved one
changes the family. Comfort them, Lord!" she wrote on Twitter.
