NBC journalist, Ronan Farrow has left Creative Artists
Agency after Harvey Weinstein reportedly tried to pressure its chairman to stop
him reporting on sexual harassment allegations.
When Farrow was working on a story about Weinstein in
September, the mogul 'stormed into' Bryan Lourd's office to complain, The New York Times reported.
Loud then tried to set up a meeting between Farrow and
Weinstein before allegedly telling the disgraced producer: 'This guy won't meet
right now... He did say he will call you soon. I think he is absolutely pursuing
the story.'
Farrow's story detailing allegations from various women
against Weinstein was published by the New Yorker in October, shortly after the
New York Times exposé.
Farrow last week detailed how NBC passed on his explosive
Harvey Weinstein story.
Farrow was working for NBC News when he was assigned the story last year after he obtained an audio recording of Weinstein harassing actress Ambra Gutierrez in 2015.
He said he managed to get other actresses to go on the
record about various Weinstein allegations but NBC executives decided the story
needed more work.
They eventually decided not to proceed with the story,
prompting Farrow to take it to the New Yorker where it was eventually published
in October this year.
