Manchester United to Celebrate 50 Years On

This season marks the 50th anniversary of Manchester United’s first-ever European Cup triumph, becoming the first English team to lift the most prestigious trophy in club football.

The 1967/68 campaign remains one of the greatest achievements in United's long, illustrious history and we'll be celebrating it throughout this season as we compete in UEFA Champions League action.

On 29 May 1968, the Reds famously ran out 4-1 winners over Benfica at Wembley to claim our first-ever European trophy.

Ten years on from the tragedy of the Munich Air Disaster, an emotional Matt Busby led his players to victory and we'll be looking back at that successful run round-by-round throughout this season. We'll also bring you never-before-heard stories from former players and fans as they relive their memories of '68.

Look out for special content throughout the season on and MUTV, and in the official monthly magazine, Inside United, as well as the official matchday programme, United Review.

We'll also be marking the '68 triumph on our social channels, so look out for posts featuring the hashtag #LegendsOf68.
