A boy, 13, identified as Daniel, on Saturday night drowned
by flood while attempting to cross a
water channel in Abaji town, Abuja.
An eyewitness said the deceased teenage boy and his uncle
were crossing a water drainage to board another vehicle to Nasarawa Toto, when
he slipped and fell into the gutter, adding that the flood caused by heavy
rains washed him away immediately.
He said the boy’s corpse was found the next morning at the river bank after a thorough search,
explaining that the police were alerted and came to convey the corpse to the
general hospital for examination.
The Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), DSP David Kolo,
confirmed the incident.
He said the late boy and the uncle were returning from
Ibadan, Oyo State and were on their way to Nasarawa State, when the tragedy
happened.
