A number of service chiefs have arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital following the directive by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo that they relocate to the state.


Channels TV reports that chief of army staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai was the first to arrive in Maiduguri early on Tuesday, August 1.

Also expected is the chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was due to arrive by an aircraft.

Osinbajo ordered Tukur Buratai, chief of Army staff, and Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Air staff, to relocate to Maiduguri, Borno state capital, with immediate effect, according to a report by Vanguard.

It was learnt that Osinbajo gave the directive after an emergency meeting with some service chiefs on Thursday, July 27.

The directive was prompted by a deadly Boko Haram attack on soldiers and oil exploration workers in Borno state.
