The battle rounds of Airtel The Voice Nigeria season 2 ended on Sunday with an eclectic array of artistry display and a first-ever three-talent battle.

#TeamWaje’s Zorah and Shapera kicked off the performance of the night with Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want from Me”. Waje puts Shapera through to the Live show.

Meanwhile, #TeamPato’s Voke and Eseqlic brought out the light-hearted side of the competition, with their theatrical rendition of Tiwa Savage’s song titled “Wanted”, sending the Coaches in stitches. Voke won the Battle round.

The chemistry between J’Dess and Chris Rio of #TeamYemi was one of the biggest performances of the night. They performed Westlife’s “More than words” in sync like no other. Coach Yemi Alade gave her pass to Chris Rio but the remaining three coaches – Waje, Patoranking and Timi - pressed their steal buzzers to persuade her. J’Dess eventually chose Waje as her coach.

Arewa did not disappoint her fans with her powerful voice and Amarachi also demonstrated her talent in the performance of Emeli Sande’s “What I did for Love”. Coach Waje selected Arewa while Amarachi got a steal from Coach Timi Dakolo.

Ending the night was a battle that has never been seen on The Voice, among three talents. Having ended up with 13 talents at the Blind Audition, Coach Timi made the final pairing of the episode, putting forward Sandra, Victor and twin sisters Tara & Bella.Timi puts Victor through to the Live show after a performance of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

All contestants that have made it through the Battle Rounds will now continue with the race for the big prize next Sunday night.

You can watch the show every Sunday on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv Ch151) and Africa Magic Urban (DStv Ch153) by 7pm Nigerian time.
