Angry youths at Ikot Eyo Efam community, Calabar South Local Government Area, Cross River State, have pulled down a church where they discovered a fresh heart, suspected to be that of a one year, six-month-old girl, abducted in the locality last week, and set its appliances ablaze.

The youths, claiming that the church was involved in ritual activities, stormed the holy place in tricycles after one of the suspects arrested by the Police confessed that they were sent on the mission by the pastor of the church
They destroyed everything in the church. Drum set, key board, microphones and chairs were set ablaze, while criminals that infiltrated the protest carted away aluminium windows steel door and other items.

NDV saw sundry baby clothes, women underwears, over 1,000 different photographs, clothes soaked in blood scattered in the church.
Some of the residents, who spoke to NDV, said strange things happen in the area, but they could not place their fingers on them.

One said: “The landlord of the church building lost two children in one day, just like the Reverend lost two of his brothers in one day. A lot of times, we stumble into people from the worship centre carrying out various rituals at midnight.

"We have vigilante here because of robbers and we comb the neighbourhood at night. About three weeks ago, we stumbled on someone from the church with a hen and other items in a traditional basket and the fellow was dressed in black. Is that part of biblical instruction?”
Contacted, Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, who confirmed the incident, said: “We got a complaint and my men from Uwanse Division got into action, “We learned that some boys entered a house and took a little child.

"We made some arrests and searched the premises, during which a lot of things were discovered, including flesh. We have taken the flesh to University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, for further analysis to know if it matches that of a human being and probably the missing girls. Until then, we cannot conclude on anything.”
