The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari has urged Nigerians to scrutinize messages and information placed on social media, stressing that the country is not as bad as being painted.

Abari stated this position in Abuja while condemning the upsurge of hate speeches and divisive comments which tend to divide Nigerians along ethnic and religious affiliations, adding that our diversity as a nation is always a strength.

He said the current tensions and challenges in the country should make citizens united and stronger for a new Nigeria in accordance with the vision of our heroes past.

The NOA Director General explained that the time to change is now and the time to unite and love one another is now. Nigerians should advocate love, unity, peaceful co-existence and patriotism in contributing to the development of the nation.

It is an obligation of online practitioners to use their comments to build the country and promote love and unity among citizens, adding that Nigeria’s unity is not negotiable and we all have a collective responsibility to strive toward nation building.

In his words, “Peace and unity remain the only pathway for sustainable development”.
