The Councilor representing Isiala Itu Ward 12 at the Obingwa Legislative Council, Hon. Chief (Mrs) Obioma Ocheze Ali has died. She died after suffering severe burns from adulterated kerosene explosion. She died after battling for days at Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba, Abia State.  The Executive Chairman of Obingwa Local Government, Hon.Hanson Sunday Amaechi confirmed the sad news in a condolence message. "The Chairman Obingwa LGA and ALGON Chairman of Abia State, Hon Amaechi Sunday Hanson (Abacha), on behalf the government and people of Obingwa LGA has condoled with Chief Israel Ali and the entire of people of Itungwa ward 12 over the passing of the only female councillor in the Obingwa Legislative Council whose sad event occurred in the early hours of Tuesday July, 4 2017 at the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba after a prolonged battle with domestic fire accident."

He said that the demise of Hon. Chief Obioma Ochieze Alexander who he called Nwanne Dede and who fondly called him Dede Nwanne has left an irreplaceable vacuum in the struggle for female political participation as she distinguished herself with candour as a mother in politics and stabilize the equation for the women folk.

He extolled the sterling qualities of the deceased and paid glowing tributes to her beautiful memory.
The chairman who was amongst the first callers at the family residence praised late Hon. Ochieze Ali for struggling to stay alive against the odds, regretting that her death came at a time when her expertise as a veteran politician and a compassionate leader were most needed especially in the representation of the good people of Ward 12 who she served with distinction.

Chief Mrs. Obioma Ali until her death yesterday was a foremost PDP women leader and a front line supporter of the Abacha's Okezuo Obingwa administration. She was also the Deputy Chief Whip and Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Welfare in the Obingwa legislative Council.
The Chairman who could not hold back his tears that flowed profusely prayed for the repose of her soul and encouraged the family to mourn with hope as we await the resurrection morning when those who died in Christ will rise again to die no more.
