A small group of people have been protesting outside House of Assembly, Abuja, over the treatment of their compatriots in China, especially those held in prison. A letter from the Black African Reorientation and Development Organisation, which organised the protest, said:

"Over 6,000 Nigerians are currently in various Chinese prisons. The facts show that over 55% are unlawfully and illegally being incarcerated."

The protesters were urging the senate to take the issue into account as ties are strengthened between Nigeria and China.
