Police arrest two bag-snatching teenagers in Bayelsa

Two minors who specialise in bag snatching and stealing in Yenagoa have been arrested by Bayelsa State Police Command. The two minors, Abel Miracle, aged 12, and David Agbagidi, aged 14, were apprehended at Julius Berger roundabout in the Yenagoa metropolis.

Trouble started for the teenagers when a commercial tricycle operator, sensing their strange behaviour in his tricycle, alerted the police. The suspects, knowing that the game was up, took to their heels, but the policemen chased and apprehended them.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects boarded a tricycle from Swali to Kpansia.

Butswat said, "The driver of the tricycle, one Jacob Philip, drove to the Julius Berger roundabout and alerted policemen that he suspected the two children he was carrying were thieves.-

"The children took to their heels and the policemen chased and arrested them. The sum of N134,400 was recovered from them. They confessed to stealing the money from a bag belonging to an unknown person at Swali waterside. Investigation is ongoing."
