The attention of the NYSC Kebbi State Secretariat has been
drawn to a news story with the above headline published in the online version
of The Sun newspaper and also on page 13 of the printed edition of 26th May,
2017.
We wish to inform the public that the Corps member, Yusuf
Ege Olaide (KB/16A/379), whose death was reported by the newspaper, was
actually female and a member of the recently discharged 2016 Batch 'A'.
She was lost to a brief illness on Wednesday, 8th February,
2017 at the Federal Medical Centre, Dakingari, while serving in Kebbi State.
Reference was made to her death at the swearing-in ceremony
of the 2017 Batch 'A' Stream 1 Corps members held on Thursday, 25th May, 2017
when the State Coordinator expressed appreciation to the State Governor for
standing by the family of the deceased and the NYSC during their moment of
grief.
We still remember Olaide today for her patriotic zeal and
meritorious service, and pray that she continues to rest with the Lord.
The Secretariat is hereby assuring parents and guardians of
Corps members currently serving in Kebbi State , including the newly deployed
Corps members of the 2017 Batch 'A' (Stream 1) that all is well with their
children and wards.
We shall continue to accord top priority to their safety and
general welfare.
