The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has congratulated Nigerians for the success recorded in the country's democratic history. Read below...

Today, I congratulate all Nigerians for the successes that we have recorded in our democratic history. As we move forward, all of us, as Nigerians, must continue to strive to make the tenets of democracy a part of our way of life.

Although we have come a long way in the last 18 years, it is important that we all rally behind government policies that are aimed at developing our economy. Doing this will bring about more opportunities for all our citizens.

Nigerians have continued to be patient, understanding and resilient in the face of our current economic challenges. However, with all branches committed to getting our economy back on track, it is clear that better days lie ahead for our country.

This is why we cannot and we will not take our feet off the gas pedal. We will continue to move forward because this government is determined to make life more abundant for our people.

As we proceed, I urge you all to join us as we consciously work towards nurturing our institutions, to make them stronger, more vibrant, more stable, and more consistent, so that these institutions will always work for the good of Nigeria and Nigerians, irrespective of the party or the government in power.

Happy Democracy Day!
