Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has charged security agencies to checkmate the infiltration of militants terrorising riverine areas of the state.

The governor stated this, on Wednesday, while receiving the Deputy Inspector General of Police overseeing the South West region, D.I.G Foluso Adebanjo at his Oke Mosan, Abeokuta office.

Governor Amosun, who harped on the need for proactive measures to be taken to nip criminal activities in the bud, expressed confidence that the police and other security agencies are up to the task.

The Governor, while commending the efforts of the state police command in maintaining peace and order, solicited for an increase in the number of police zones in the state.

The governor called for more police presence in the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
He further assured that Ogun State would not be a comfort zone for criminals.

In order to further boost police operations in Ogun State, Governor Amosun also seized the opportunity to announce that the state is giving two additional Armoured Personnel Carrier, APCs and Hilux vehicles to the police.

Speaking earlier, DIG Adebanjo said he was in Ogun State to assess and proffer solutions to the crime rate in the geo-political region on the orders of the Inspector General of Police.

D.I.G Adebanjo, who lauded the developmental strides of the present administration in the state, commended the state Governor for creating an enabling environment and a safe haven for businesses to thrive.
