The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has
requested the posting of Corps members trained in some specialised skills to
help in the achievement of its mandate.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Ms Yewande Sadiku
made the request during a visit to the Director-General, Brigadier General
Sulaiman Kazaure, at the National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja.
Sadiku explained that such Corps members would not only be
trained by the Commission, but would also be imparting their own specialized
skills on others, including the Commission’s staff.
She stressed that the task of canvassing investment for
Nigeria requires extensive research, especially as regards knowledge of the
country and its selling points.
"For you to advise someone on investment, you need to be
knowledgeable; you need to know more than them, to be able to advise on why
they should come to Nigeria, what sector to invest in and the likes," she said.
The Executive Secretary said the NIPC had always accepted
Corps members posted to it, but pointed out that not all graduates could play
the roles expected by the Commission; hence the need for the collaboration that
would enable it furnish the Scheme with specialized fields where the Corps
members would be needed.
Responding, the Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman
Kazaure, stressed the need for the two agencies to set up a joint team that
would fashion out strategies for the success of the proposed collaboration.
Kazaure called on the NIPC to carry along young Nigerian
graduates with passion for investment drive.
He congratulated Sadiku on her appointment and wished her a
successful tenure.
