Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, and technology company
Tsaboin on Friday launched Flobyt, a free WiFi service. This is a
huge one for Tsaboin as they are already the leading source of Lagos Traffic
information via the mobile apps giving LIVE traffic camera views of traffic
around Lagos.
Flobyt is an easy-to-use WiFi service which has been
installed across several locations in Lagos.
Some of these locations include eateries, parks, taxis,
buses, restaurants, and cafés, Dele Odufuye, Tsaboin MD/CEO, revealed during
the launch in Ikeja, Lagos.
The service, he said, was designed to replicate the home
WiFi experience when people are out and about.
At the specified locations, between 10-30 people can be
connected to Flobyt at the same time while in locations with higher traffic,
Flobyt Max can provide internet service to 10 – 80 concurrent users.
“It’s quite easy. You simply walk into any of our partner
outlets and patronise them. While you are at that, you can log into Flobyt’s
free WiFi service available. Join the “Flobyt FREE Wifi”. If your browser pops
up for authentication, just visit www.mavinrecords.com or click on
“Free Access” button shown to you,” said Odufuye.
“We are using state-of-the-art Wifi technology equipment
that balances speed, quality of service, security and data consumption. These
equipment are light weight and easier to manage. These are the technological
and business edges,” he added.
Don Jazzy enthused over the solution with much optimism. He
hinted at a few tech investments, stating that Flobyt was not his only
investment in 2017, but that he had incredible confidence in it.
Don Jazzy, in his remarks, noted that he believes in Flobyt
to succeed, disclosing that it is one of the “few investments” he’s set to
unveil.
“I believe so much in this. This is one of the few other
investments we are going to be sharing with you.
“I have been on social media for a long time. I know how
expensive data is. I give free airtime, now it’s time to give free WiFi,” he
said.
Flobyt is currently installed in Bar Enclave, Ilupeju;
FoodHouse, Ikosi; Lounge 9a, Anthony; Massimo Bar, Ikeja; Grace’s Cakes, Ogba;
Jazzment Salon Lekki; Kayz Place Barbershop, Lekki; Amala Express, Lekki; White
House, Sabo, Yaba and Road Star Burger, Lekki.
Businesses and users can nominate their location to be hosts
free of charge to Flobyt WiFi by filling out a form on the website.
The company plans to take its services to other parts of
Nigeria, through West Africa and ultimately throughout Africa giving the public
access to free internet while providing value for the business owners.
