A 37-year-old pastor, Korede Olamide was on Wednesday remanded in prison custody by an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly raping and robbing a woman. Korede is also accused of unlawfully detaining the victim and putting a hard substance, known as ‘Vilium 5’ in her drink, making her sleep until the next day.

A four-man robbery gang that had allegedly been terrorising residents of the Ikorodu area of Lagos State has been arrested by Anti-Robbery Squad of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba. The suspects include, Akin Ayotunde, Isaac Ogbonna, Sola Dede and Sodiq Lawal, who specialised in lurking around houses at night and switching off their victims’ generators before attacking them.
The naira has fallen to 418 against the dollar at the parallel market on Tuesday as scarcity of foreign exchange continued to weigh on the official interbank and black market. The naira traded at a fresh record low of 418 to the dollar on the black market, against 414 a dollar on Monday, traders said.
