… Becomes Youngest Male N.Y.C. Marathon Winner

The above pictured athlete, Ghirmay Ghebressiassie, from Eritrea has won this year’s annual New York City marathon and turned out to be the youngest winner of the race.


Ghebreslassie finished his debut in the Big Apple with a time of 2:07:51, 62 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, Lucas Rotich of Kenya. American Abdi Abdirahman placed third in the men’s division.

The previous youngest male winners were Alberto Salazar in 1980 and Tom Fleming in 1973, who were both 22 when they won, according to NBC.
