Oby Ezekwsili reacts to the House of Representatives buying exotic cars for its 360 members at a period the country’s economy is in recession. According to the reports, they insisted that lawmakers must have a means of mobility while carrying out oversight duties over Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government.

According to them, N3.6bn will be spent across 24 months to complete payment for  the luxury vehicles supplied by the Kaduna-based Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited. A total of 360 units of the exotic automobile would have been delivered by January 2017.

Ezekwesili expressed shock that Nigerian lawmakers in a country facing recession could spend such whooping amount of money to purchase cars.

"Mark my word, @nassnigeria @HouseNGR and @NGRSenate. One day...&very soon..the Citizens will seek a ride in those your fancy cars too.

"Ask your aides to google what your contemporaries in other countries facing Recession are doing, @nassnigeria @HouseNGR & @NGRSenate. Deputy Chair of Media @HouseNGR said "recession would not stop lawmakers from performing their legislative duties." So they bought cars," she said on Twitter.
