The Abaji command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) impounded a truck loaded with 55 bags of Indian hemp at Abaji, Abuja- Lokoja road. Two suspects were arrested when the bus was intercepted at Army checkpoint, Abaji.


According to the source, during patrol an unmarked J5 Peugeot bus coming from Lokoja axis on top speed was flagged down, but bus driver and his conductor took to their heels before they pursued and arrested them.

“When they were flagged down, before we realized what was happening, they took  to their heels and we ran after them and arrested the two of them,” he said. 

He said it was in the process of searching the bus that 55 bags of substance suspected to be Indian hemp were hidden under bunches of banana.

 He added that the bus and the suspects were eventually taken to NDLEA command office for thorough search. 

The source said the two suspects later confessed during interrogation after the substance was discovered in the bus.

The Abaji commandant of the NDLEA, Shehu Garba confirmed the arrest.
