The activist, James Otis, who smashed Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with a pickaxe and a sledgehammer could find himself behind bars for three years.
The 52-year-old man was charged with felony vandalism on Thursday, a crime that carries a maximum punishment of three years in jail or a $10,000 fine.
Otis destroyed the star of the president-elect in the early hours of October 27, when Trump was still a candidate, police said. He was arrested soon after.
He was freed on bail and scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
