The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has halted the warning strike after a crucial meeting with the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, headed by Senator, Barau Jibrin. The strike will be put to an end tomorrow, pending the outcome of the next meeting with the senate.

According to Senator, Barau Jibrin, Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions (TETFUND), "the government has accepted all the demands that ASUU has made, except one, therefore we decided to adjourn the meeting.

"We will deliberate and converge again to discuss the remaining issue, which is the allowances that are supposed to be paid to University lecturers. The government has deposited some amount of money, but ASUU thought otherwise because the money is inadequate.

"However, they will make consultations and later come back to us. We do hope they will come up with goodnews that they have accepted the government’s offer.  But for now the strike action has been halted,” he concluded.
