All is not over for the nine-year-old boy, Korede Taiwo, who
was chained and starved by his father in Ogun State, as the wife of Ogun State
Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun has taken up the sponsorship of his education
from primary to university level.
Taiwo was allegedly chained by his father, Francis Yaiwo, a
pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ, Key of Joy, but he was rescued inside
his father’s church by policemen, operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps. He accused the boy of habitual stealing and needed deliverance.
The 40-year-old father was thereafter arrested and
transferred to the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The Director of Child Development Services, Ogun State
Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mr. Kehinde Egbeolowo, on
Thursday in Abeokuta said the governor’s wife had taken up the sponsorship of
Korede’s education from primary school to the university level.
Egbeolowo said, “Korede has been enrolled as a nursery one
pupil in a private school with boarding facilities in the state.”
He said the maltreatment meted out to Taiwo attracted Mrs.
Amosun’s attention.
