Nasarawa United of Lafia pipped Enyimba FC of Aba 1-0 in the
second semi final of the men’s Federation Cup competition in Ibadan on
Saturday.
Defender Seun Sogbeso scored from the penalty spot in the
first half after goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai was judged to unfairly
obstruct forward Abdulrahman Bashir.
The People’s Elephant, who reached the group phase of this
year’s CAF Champions League, mounted pressure on the ‘Solid Miners’ in the
second half at the Lekan Salami Stadium, but could not find an equalizer. Their
challenge was undermined late on when Uche John was sent off for a second
bookable offence.
Reward for the Solid Miners, who reached the second round of
this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, is a place in the grand finale of the men’s
version of the competition.
The women’s final had earlier been established, with last
year’s runners –up Bayelsa United set to clash with Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt.
