The appeal filed by Senate President Bukola Saraki challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal to try him for charges of false declaration of assets has been dismissed by Appeal Court in Abuja on Thursday.

The Justice Abdul-Aboki panel affirmed the jurisdiction of the tribunal to try Saraki, insisting that the Attorney General of the Federation had the power to drag him before the CCT. The panel said the Attorney General of the Federation had the power to drag him before the CCT.

The court also said charges can be instituted against appellate before inviting him. Justice Aboki also said the charges remain valid even though they were instituted 12 years later.

The court had last year struck out an appeal challenging the CCT’s jurisdiction to try Saraki for false declaration of assets.
