Emerging Afro Pop and Urban Soul crooner Kalifonia is poised
to shake the African market with her unique brand of music. With three hot
singles-(Ibunu, Vumani boh and Sanko), the South African-born multi-talented
entertainer is already ruling the airwaves and wowing her teeming fans.
Born in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga and christened
California Ntemane in 1993, the pretty singer is also a songwriter, dancer and
actress.
Currently signed on Aloma Entertainment, a Nigerian owned
and South African based label, Kalifonia, is set to drop her debut studio
album, for the listening pleasure of her fans all over Africa and beyond.
Amazingly, as an international act that had visited over
eight African countries plying her craft, she has equally collaborated with some
of Nigeria's best producers like: Tspize on her first single, 'Ibunu' and
'Vumani boh,' with Nonny D, thus further raising the bar of her career as a
true African music star.
Interestingly, in the course of her career; effervescent
Kalifornia has worked with Mckenzie (Rhythmic Elements) on the track 'You make
me.'
She equally played a major role by assisting in DoAGRIC
Campaign with an international and Cameroonian artiste, Wax Dey.
The sexy singer later grabbed a mouth-watering recording
opportunity at Chinada Records to further pursue her passion.
In an exclusive chat with our reporter, Kalifonia, who is
also the boss of CalAfro, a leading South African dance grooming outfit, said
she’s an ambitious young lady who wants people to relate to her music on a
personal level beyond the hype and be truly inspired.
"And that is what drives me as a thorough-bred artiste. Work
is almost completed on my debut studio album, which is definitely going to
shake the continent once released. We are just adding finishing touches to the
explosive album."
On her deal with Aloma Entertainment, Kalifonia, who is
currently studying for her BA degree in Communication Studies with the
University of South Africa, disclosed thus.
"I signed with Aloma Entertainment early 2016 to work on my
first album, which is due to be out soon. And so far, I’m enjoying the over
dose of love, support and friendship of the entire crew. They are gradually
taking over the South African entertainment landscape and I’m very happy and
proud to be associated with them."
Kalifonia is also one of the foreign acts billed to perform
at the forthcoming Daylight’s Bowler Hats Bash, holding on October 1, in
Lagos, Nigeria.
Also speaking, the youthful boss of Aloma Entertainment, Mr.
Augustine Mbachu, described the latest artiste on his wave making label as a
star waiting to explode in Africa and beyond.
"As a talented singer, Kalifonia’s style of music can be
called a musical interpretation of her state of mind, what she sees around her,
what she feels and the challenges she faces. She is a star waiting to explode
on the African market. And at Aloma Entertainment, we have decided to help her
achieve her childhood dreams of becoming a global star. She is also
an artiste with an edgy style and bold artistry."
Also lending his voice, the CEO of Even Though
Entertainment, Mr. Kesta Eventhough Chidi, who shuttles between Nigeria and
South Africa, added that Kalifonia is the beautiful bride currently rocking the
South African music scene.
"Kalifonia, prior to joining Aloma Entertainment had
composed afro soulful and pop tracks including “Crazy, I want more and Take me
with you” which became her stage performance fan favourites and quickly
attracted both the South African and Nigerian markets, including the attention
of Nigerian owned and South African based label, Aloma Entertainment."
