The director and Oscar-winning writer on ‘L.A. Confidential’, Curtis Hanson has died of heart attack in his Hollywood Hills home. He was 71.


Hanson was also responsible for creating box-office hits such as ‘The Hand That Rocks the Cradleand’, the Eminem hip-hop drama ‘8 Mile’.



The filmmaker had not directed a movie since 2012 after he left the production of ‘Chasing Mavericks’, due to an undisclosed illness.



In 1997, Hanson won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for co-writing, ‘L.A. Confidential’ with Brian Helgeland.


Hanson is survived by a son, born in 2004, with his Rebecca Yeldham, a producer.
