Nigeria’s Dream Team VI has secured a bronze medal for Nigeria at the Rio Olympics. Samson Siasia’s men defeated Honduras 3-2 in the third place play-off to claim bronze at the men’s football tournament.


Striker Sadiq Umar opened the scoring in the 34th minute. Nigeria returned from the tunnel blazing from all cylinders and barely four minutes into the second half, Aminu Umar netted the second goal.

Sadiq Umar extended Nigeria’s lead into three seven minutes later before Anthony Lozano pulled one back for Honduras in the 71st minute. Marcelo Pereira nodded home Honduras’ second barely four minutes to go to put pressure on the Dream Team.
