Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has hinted that Niger Delta Avengers militant group has over 30 factions, which has proven to be a huge hindrance for the government.
He said this when he spoke on Channels Television‘s State of the Nation Program, on the issue of militancy in the Niger Delta region and how the government had been ready for negotiations from the beginning.
He lamented the fact that numerous groups have come that they represent the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), and that has been hindering the dialogue process.
"Between the time the insurgency started again in April, May and now, the Office of the National Security Adviser has met and spoken with more than 30 different groups and when ONSA meets with these groups, each one will claim to be the original, while the others are fake, and on and on . At the end of the day, you don’t know who to talk with and that has been a major hindrance to the dialogue," he said.
