A High Court in Abuja has jailed a 33-year-old man for stealing cars in Abuja and its environs.
The prosecution counsel, A.O Urom told the court that the accused identified as Ahmed Isah was arrested on July 2 at Area 10 Garki, Abuja by one of the police officer on patrol.



The prosecutor further informed the court that during police investigation, three keys suspected to be master keys used in opening vehicles were recovered from the accused. 

He also said that further investigation revealed that the accused belonged to a gang of thieves who specialized in using master keys to  steal different vehicles belonging to innocent victims from where they are parked within the FCT metropolis. 

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded guilty. The prosecutor, therefore, urged the court to try the convict summarily in pursuance to section 112(8) of the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act, 2015.


 Delivering the judgment, Umar Yusuf Kargako, sentenced the convict to eight weeks imprisonment after the accused pleaded guilty to the one count charge of car theft, an offence contravening sections 319A and 306 of the penal code law.
