Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Tuesday, received the Flag Officer, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Ferguson Dukas Bobai who led a team of senior officers of the Command on a courtesy visit to his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office.


Speaking while receiving his guests, the governor thanked the Navy for setting up a presence on Tongeji Island.

"Thank you for heeding my call for a security presence on that Island. I have always called for security presence on Tongeji Island in order to prevent a situation where it may end up going the way of Bakassi peninsula," Governor Amosun said.

The governor assured that with the Federal security presence on the Tongeji Island, the state government is encouraged to bring more social amenities for the residents.

The governor also called for more security presence in other riverine communities in the state especially places like Arepo and Ibafo where residents were recently attacked by suspected pipeline vandals.

Rear Admiral Bobai on his part thanked the governor and assured of the Navy's readiness to provide security not only on Tongeji Island, but across other riverine communities in Ogun State.
