Selena Gomez is mourning the death of her friend, Christina Grimmie who was gunned in Orlando, Florida on Friday night, as she has canceled her fan meet and greet scheduled to take place at her concert in Miami on Saturday night.

The news, confirmed by E!, came just hours after the singer, 23, posted an emotional tribute to news of Christina Grimmie's death.

'My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina,' Selena wrote alongside a photo of herself with Christina, who was an opening act and backup dancer for her.

Selena still plans to go ahead with Saturday's concert at Miami's American Airlines Arena, although she and her team are clearly anxious about security in the wake of Christina's senseless killing.

22-year-old Christina was gunned down Friday night as she signed autographs for fans after performing in Orlando, Florida.

Kevin James Lobil, 27, drove from his home in St Petersburg to the gig armed with two handguns and a knife before opening fire during the meet and greet.

The deranged fan was tackled by Christina's brother Marcus before turning one of his two handguns on himself in a murder-suicide.

This afternoon a hastily-scribbled note was found pinned to the door of his house, which he shares with his parents, which says: 'Deepest sorrow for lost [sic] to the family, friends and fans of the very talented, loving Christina Grimmie. No other comments.'
