Nick Gordon has clear the air over his girlfriend, Bobbi Kristina’s drug problem and the wrongful death charges filed against him. Gordon, speaking to Dr Phil, said he had undergone a stint in rehab after his addiction to Xanax and alcohol abuse emerged following her death.

He admitted Kristina, who died aged 22 also suffered similar problems. Asked about photos that surfaced in 2011 of Kristina smoking cannabis and snorting cocaine, he admitted that she had a drug problem. He explained he saw her doing drugs while her mother was still alive, and sometimes smoked with her.

Gordon said: 'At the time, that (drugs) is kind of the only way we knew how to deal with what had happened.'

Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in January 2015 and was left in a coma until she passed away in hospital six months later.

He said: 'How does that happen to one person and then happen the second time? It was just so similar. All the sirens and all that stuff. It was horrible.'

He also addressed his own drug use, which Dr Phil said was evident when they first met last year.

'Rehab was something I needed and I’m thankful that I got that opportunity. I was drinking so much at the time because I could not deal with what was happening to Krissy. It mentally broke me. That’s the lowest point in my life right there.'

A judge last week unsealed Kristina's autopsy report which showed that her face being immersed in water, along with drug intoxication, led to her death.
