Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA)has continued to prove its worth as a humanitarian organization by donating cash, food items and medical facilities to expectant mothers and people living with HIV and AIDS as well as Staff of  Defence Medical Centre Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja. The President of DEPOWA, Mrs Omobolanle Olonisakin made the donation during a visit to the centre.


As an organization committed to alleviating the plights of the needy by providing succor to the less privileged in the society, it will be recalled that such donation was made to the  internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in Maiduguri recently. They have embarked on programs geared towards development and empowerment of women and children in the barracks communities through establishment of skills acquisition centre .

The items donated include incubator machine, electronic Baby scope, beddings, bags of Rice, bags of Beans, Cartons of beverages,  bags of crayfish, among many others. She explained that the donation was to motivate the staff as well as support and encourage beneficiaries on the importance of living positively by complying with their medications.  She therefore enjoined all to live purposeful lives and adhere strictly to doctor’s prescriptions.

The highlight was the visit to Defence Health Club, where she encouraged persons living with HIV and AIDS.

While receiving the organization, the Chief Medical Officer, Navy Commodore Augustine Abba Omale expressed gratitude for the kind gesture. He stated that the centre is maternity based hence the equipment will limit rate of referrals.
